The Thursday outside Tai Chi will re-start on 11th October.

Anyone wishing to join the group please e-mail me for details.

Tuesday 17 July 2012

We have had a great couple of months.  Firstly Gui Shi Zhuo(Kevin) arrived.  He cooked some great Chinese food for us and I had some wonderful Yoga lessons with him.  We visited many places including London, Oxford and York.  He loved England and English people.  The Tai Chi group had lots of questions to ask Kevin about China.  We had a great time with him.

In June Tom Zhang arrived.  We were so lucky to have him teach our Tai Chi group.  See the photographs on the photos page.  His demonstrations and advice gave us the incentive to try to improve.  Tom loved England too.  He completed two wonderful paintings, one of London and one of Whitby Abby while he was here.   He also cooked a delicious Chinese Meal for the group.

I will return to China in September for a month.  I can't wait to re-join my old Tai Chi group in the park.  I have lots I want to go over with Zhang Laoshi.  One person from the Tai Chi group will come with us, I hope she enjoys the Tai Chi and the experience.

Outside for the Summer

Last week the group  decided they prefer doing Tai Chi outside now that it is warming up.  It was good  practicing in the fresh air with the birds fluttering around us in the garden.  We will move inside on rainy days.

Just a note to remind people that the class on Sunday April 22nd will be at 10am as my Beijing Son Gui Shi Zhuo (Kevin) is arriving in the afternoon.  We are picking him up from the airport.

There will be no Sunday class on May 13th as he returns to Beijing that day.

One of my Beijing Tai Chi teachers, Tom Zhang will be visiting me in June for 2 weeks.  We will make the most of him while he is with us.  It's his first trip to England so I hope he enjoys himself.

Very Happy

My new classes have now been running for 3 weeks.  I'm enjoying them very much.  The venue at the Catholic Club in Beverley is great.  The management made us very welcome.

The upstairs room has a good calm atmosphere with plenty of space.  At the moment we are concentrating on basic Qi Gong and working slowly and steadily on the Yang 8 step form.  The class members have decided they prefer a slow and thoughtful approach, which is great for me.

I have booked the room for an extra 30 minutes so that I can work with a student who had already started to learn sword with me.  Most of the group stay for this session and want to join in, so I am probably going to tag a sword lesson onto the Tai Chi Quan class once everyone has progressed a bit more with the basics.

I hope everyone is enjoying the classes as much as I am.  It's great to see people getting into Tai Chi and having fun.  One student told me, I never thought I'd manage to do anything like this, it's great to find out I can.  This is what is so great about Tai Chi anyone can practice it, regardless of age or fitness level.  It can be adapted as needed.

10 days to go

Started posting adverts for my new class today.  Students and friends have been great and have helped  me find lots of places to put them up.

Had a great afternoon doing Qigong and Sword with a friend.  A bit windy, but not too cold so we managed to practice outside.
